Broadalbin, NY

Broadalbin was first settled around 1770 near the present Broadalbin village. The town was created from the Towns of Johnstown and Mayfield in 1793, before Fulton County was formed. In 1799, part of Broadalbin was used to form the Town of Northampton. Broadalbin lost the south part of the town in 1842 to form the Town of Perth.

When the Great Sacandaga Lake was created in 1930, some of the town’s land was covered with water, including the Sacandaga Vlaie, a broad expanse of marshy land.
