Important Reminder - To all team captains, remember that players must have PLAYED or BEEN PRESENT ON THE TEAMS BENCH for 5 weeks in order to qualify for the playoffs. This is a rule that was set in place before the season began and will be enforced once the playoffs begin. The playoffs are to be a level playing fielded including players that have participated for half the year.
Fox Hill Takes Sole Possession of 1st Place / Perth Bible Gets First Win (NEW)
Game one of the night featured winless Perth Bible taking on a up and coming BBC Nets 2 team that had been making some noise. Perth Bible came out aggressive and played well throughout the game. In the End it was Perth Bible led by Adam Cahill's 28 points that picked up their first win of the year. Game two of the evening pitted league rivals Fox Hill and Crossroads in what is always a entertaining game. Crossroads played the game short handed and that proved to be the difference down the stretch. With the win Fox Hill improved to 7-1.
"Game three was a game that was played under protest", says Fulmont team captain, Rudy Breyo. The game was played with only one referee and BBC took just 3 shots in the last 5 minutes of play. Breyo went on to say, "Keep away is not basketball". Since the league does not use a shot clock, BBC's strategy was to work the ball and eat time off the clock once a decent lead was in place. In the end it was BBC who took the lowest scoring game of the year, 58-51.
Upsets Are The Story In Week 7
Game 1 of the night featured the upcoming BBC Nets 2 taking on Crossroads. In the end it was the the BBC Nets 2 team upsetting Crossroads 72-66. The Bush father and son combination combined for 54 points to lead BBC Nets 2. Game 2 put a struggling Perth Bible team against a red hot Fulmont team. Fulmont continued their mid season tare, winning 76-51. Adam Barnhart found his touch scoring a game hi 30 points.
Game 3 was a rematch between the undefeated BBC Nets and Fox Hill. These two teams met earlier in the season, but the game was called with under 3 minutes left do to a serious injury. Before the game BBC Nets forward Mark Kou said "Winner of this game takes both". Tim Cox Sr from Fox Hill responded with a smile, "We'll remember you said that". So the game was on with 2 games on the line. In the end it was underdog Fox Hill who won the contest with a final score of 66-52.
